“He swallows riches,
But will vomit them up;
God will expel them from his belly.
There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise,
But a foolish man swallows it up.
For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps.
Great wealth is in the house of the righteous,
But trouble is in the income of the wicked.
Now when he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he began to be impoverished.
Now He was also saying to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a manager, and this manager was reported to him as squandering his possessions.
Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles,
But the one who gathers by labour increases it.
The rich rules over the poor,
And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave.
For he sees that even wise men die;
The stupid and the senseless alike perish
And leave their wealth to others.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.
